While I never had the honor of meeting Frank Harr, I’m humbled by the legacy his conviction and love have left for the world. I’m passionate about continuing with the vision that he started and so many committed friends, loved ones, and allies have built upon. As the child of a Navy veteran, I grew up all across the globe, never fully embraced by a community marked by policies like “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” I was lucky to eventually find the love and support I needed to proudly be myself and I’ve been blessed to live in Wilmington since 2015. I look forward to shaping the landscape of the community I now call home to create more of the spaces that Frank knew we needed for advocacy, education, and support.
We must continue to push for progress in all the areas that affect the health and happiness of our community and allies. LGBTQ+ lives are not defined by a single experience, but are impacted by economic justice, racial justice, and criminal justice as well as traditional LGBTQ rights issues like marriage/family equality.
I believe every person in our community has the right to do more than just survive- we deserve to thrive. At the Frank Harr Foundation we’re building a place where we all truly belong, from LGBTQ+ elders to youth and everyone in between. Join us!
