DESCRIPTION:Join us November 28th from 2:00 to 4:00pm at the Brooklyn Arts Center Annex for our AIDS Memorial Quilt Reception and Community Remembrance. Please join us to remember those lost\, celebrate those who are still with us\, and do our part to eradicate the stigma around AIDS/HIV. In recognition of World AIDS Day\, this event will bring awareness of the ongoing epidemic\, its impact on marginalized populations and our community at large. Our region is one of the nation’s areas of increasing rates for new HIV infections and number of persons living with HIV.  Join us and the National AIDS Memorial as we commemorate World AIDS Day this year. \nCost: $50 per ticket\, which includes entrance to the venue and heavy hors d’oeuvres. Join us in collaboration with UNCW in presenting the film Proper Pronouns\, February 7th! \nSynopsis provided by UNCW: \nOne transgender minister’s journey toward acceptance and reclamation \nProper Pronouns is a feature film that follows four transgender ministers fighting intolerance and discrimination in the Bible Belt\, in particular\, Dawn Flynn\, as she seeks validation in the pulpit and reconciliation in her marriage\, problems she did not face when she was Duane. \nSouthern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers connects documentary filmmakers and their impactful work with audiences throughout the South.\nSouthern Circuit screenings are funded in part by a grant from South Arts\, a regional arts organization\, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts. \n
