On November 4th\, the last Saturday of early voting\, we are going to gather at Bottega and march along with our allies\, friends\, and families to vote at Cape Fear Community College at 2nd and Red Cross Street. \nWear your rainbows\, bring your flags\, and join us. This is a non-partisan event for our LGBTQ+ community and allies. If you live inside of the city you can vote. If you live outside\, you can come march with us. Afterwards we will have food and fun at Bottega. If you have any questions about the voting process\, we are here to help. Your voice matters and we will not be silenced. SUMMARY:Highway Clean Up with Plastic Ocean Project
DESCRIPTION:Join the LGBTQ Center of the Cape Fear Coast and Plastic Ocean Project (POP) in a highway cleanup. POP has been cleaning up the same 1000-foot section of Rt. 421\, 6 miles south of the New Hanover County Landfill for well over a year. Every month\, they remove between 200 to 400+ lbs. of trash! If it is not removed\, the debris can be swept away into the nearby Cape Fear River and potentially end up in the ocean.\nPOP separates the debris recycling plastic bottles\, glass\, cans\, cardboard\, and paper. The large quantities of Styrofoam packaging are taken to UNC Wilmington to be recycled. The bulk of what they find are construction materials (nails/sharps) that result in costly repairs or replacement of tires. \nWe have access to park at Cape Fear Catamarans of the South East located at 2102 US-421 Wilmington\, NC 28401. Please carpool if you can and please note no one under 12 years old can participate. We will meet at 11am and clean for 2 hours.
