Our mission is to bring our LGBTQ+ elders together by organizing, educating, and connecting to build support and community for LGBTQ+ elders in southeastern N.C.
The LGBTQ Center of the Cape Fear Coast and OWLS (Out Wilmington LGBTQ+ Seniors) are excited about our social gatherings for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender adults age 50 and older (and their allies). Held on the fourth Thursday of every month in Wilmington, NC. Come meet old friends and make new ones!
OWLS are proud to partner with the Alzheimer’s Association of North Carolina as they lead the way to end Alzheimer’s and all other dementia — by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support.
OWLS Table events bring together people of all ages at hundreds of tables across the world to share a meal and conversation. The transformative relationships formed around an OWLS Table can alleviate social isolation and its consequences. We’d love for you to join us at the next OWLS Table – Wilmington.
A peer to peer group of HIV+ Long Term Survivors formed in Wilmington, NC by SAGE Wilmington and the LGBTQIA Center of the Cape Fear Coast. “We never imagined aging with HIV”. A confidential monthly meeting of HIV+ peers to share experiences, listen, and hopefully to help one navigate and thrive in our community. Find local groups that provide services and programs to LGBT older people through SAGENet, our national affiliate program. SAGE Wilmington of the Cape Fear Coast is a proud affiliate of SAGE USA.
SAGE Cents is a digital wellness platform made specifically for LGBT elders to increase financial stability and reduce economic stress. This program, created in partnership with LifeCents and with generous support from the Wells Fargo Foundation, will help ensure that LGBT elders have access to resources that will support their financial literacy and stability as they navigate the unprecedented economic environment resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. With SAGECents, LGBT elders will receive accurate and current information and have access to helpful resources and tools personalized to their age, income, financial goals, and more.
