Cynthia has been in Wilmington since late 2021 after retiring and traveling the country in a RV. She was looking for a home base and decided that Wilmington was the place she wanted to plant roots. It is a friendly southern town, has a large and growing LGBTQ community, is dog friendly (I have 2 little rascals), and has a very attractive climate on the coast.

Her professional career has included time as a business process analyst, marketing operations, and as a small business owner. This experience will help to grow the LGBTQ Center into a viable and active organization in the Cape Fear region. Her involvement in the LGBTQ community in the Cape Fear Region was rapid and extensive, primarily because she moved here without knowing anyone and wanted to get involved since retirement has lent itself to more available time. She first learned of the original SAGE group for LGBTQ Seniors age 50+ through the LGBTQ Center. There she met many new friends and started participating in activities and events. She has facilitated volunteer activities with the Food Bank and her interests include helping to promote more diversity and inter-generational opportunities in our community. The SAGE group morphed into the stand-alone Silver Pride Circle, which she currently holds the position of Treasurer on the Planning Committee.

As a board member of the LGBTQ Center of the Cape Fear Region, she anticipates being proactive to help bring the Center through growth and visibility, including an actual Center building, and to re-engage and collaborate with multiple LGBTQ groups in the area.
