Pam Jones, (She/Her) has been coming to and going from Pleasure Island (Carolina and Kure Beaches) her entire life, as that was the go-to destination for her mother’s Wilson-based family. Raised in the U.S. Army, Pam moved with her parents to Kure Beach in 1979. After serving in the U.S. Marine Corps for 3 years, she attended UNCW and graduated in 1986.
Pam spent the bulk of her adult life working and raising her son, Quillan, with her husband, Kris, in Fairfax, VA. She has had the great good fortune of splitting her time between Fairfax and Kure Beach since 2011. In Virginia, Pam spent 16 years as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA/GAL), advocating for children in the legal system due to abuse or neglect. During this experience, she became educated, familiar with and sensitive to the challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community. Through her advocacy, Pam’s Formed Family grew to include a young Trans man and his mother. When Pam retired from CASA in 2022, she searched for opportunities to support the LGBTQ+ community in the New Hanover County area. Finding the LGBTQ Center, Pam became an avid member of the vibrant senior social group (OWLS/Silver Pride Circle) and found her life greatly enriched. Volunteering for Center events morphed into a strong desire to serve the community by serving on the Board.
Pam also identifies as a Crazy Cat Lady (3 kitties … at the moment).
